School’s Out!

Final Days of our Explore! After School Program

The last two weeks of school passed us all by so quickly. Despite time winding down, we were still able to pack in so much fun over our final days. On Tuesday, May 21st, Muncie Community Schools held their last early-release day for the school year. Early-release days mean more time in after school programming. When this last early-release comes around each year, that means sprinkler day at the Ross Community Center!

Sprinklers are always fun, and we were so fortunate to have the perfect weather for them that day! We also got to take a popsicle break at the end, which just feels like a perfect ending to the day.

Another favorite activity item is shaving cream! There’s so many different ways to use this simple material and the students always love it. While we didn’t get any pictures of the activity, which was marbling paper using washable paint and shaving cream, we did get this classic picture of student living their best life with the shaving cream after the fun of using the paper had passed.

Over the course of the last several weeks, we also had an ongoing project based learning activity that was designing and building your own water park attraction. We had some lazy rivers, quite a few slides, and one student spent so much time building this giant pool with it’s own pool floats. We had to share it with you.

Lastly, we wrapped up the week with the students helping us decorate items for our upcoming Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 8th from 2pm-5pm (we hope you’ll join us for this free event!); and an epic glow party on the last day of school! We are really going to miss our students this summer, but we hope everyone has a wonderful break!
